Warner Bros.’ Barbie movie is in the works and one sequence made it clear that Barbie was prepared to protect herself. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling continued to film further rollerblading scenes on the Venice Beach boardwalk while wearing identical pink clothes. The action in question, however, took a surprising turn when she turned and punched the handsy frat boy character who had just smacked her behind.

Robbie was decked out in a neon green rollerblade set, hot pink biker shorts, and a one-piece swimsuit. The unruly visitor, who was seen winding back to slap Barbie’s behind, was dressed in a blue baseball cap that was facing the wrong way, a blue button-down shirt, tan shorts, and slip-on shoes. After turning around, Robbie strikes the man in the face, knocking him to the concrete boardwalk.

After Barbie slapped the figure, the man’s hat was seen falling off as he collapsed to the ground. Robbie measured the shot with the actor before filming the sequence, and there were other production members present. Barbie’s horrified look after smacking the man was captured from a different viewpoint as he started to tumble.

Though Robbie and Gosling are the stars of a sizable cast, nothing is known about the plot. Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, and Alexandra Shipp are among the other cast members. Will Ferrell, who was recently spotted skating, is also in the film.

Along with Rhea Perlman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Ariana Greenblatt, Emerald Fennell, the writer-director of Promising Young Woman, also appears in the film. The Barbie movie is being directed by Little Women’s Greta Gerwig from a script she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach. Through her LuckyChap Entertainment company, Robbie is co-producing the movie with Tom Ackerley, Robbie Brenner, David Heyman, Ynon Kreiz, and Josey McNamara. On July 21, 2023, Barbie will debut alongside Oppenheimer from Universal Pictures.
