Young Thug is facing major prison time after being arrested on RICO charges relating to organized crime. Prosecutors are treating his YSL collective as an unrelenting gang. Thugger recently took the opportunity to address his fans from behind bars.

At Hot 97’s 2022 Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, a message from Young Thug played for fans on the big screen. The pre-recorded audio contained a clip of Thug thanking everybody for their support. He also encouraged fans to support Rap Music On Trial: Protect Black Art, which calls for lawmakers to prevent rap lyrics from being used in court proceedings.

The video also included words of support from DJ Khaled, Polo G, and G Herbo. The conclusion featured some strong words from Young Thug. It seems as though he is doing his best to keep his spirits up in this difficult time.

“I just want to say thank you to all of my friends and my family for coming out and supporting us. You know, your support during this time means a lot to us, ya know.

You know, this isn’t just about me or YSL, I always use my music as a form of artistic expression, and now I see that Black artists and rappers don’t have that, you know, freedom. Everybody please sign the ‘Protect Black Art’ petition and keep praying for us. I love you all.”

Young Thug, Gunna, and other YSL members were arrested in May as part of a massive RICO indictment. The state is accusing the group of being a cold, murderous street gang. Young Thug is looking for all the help he can get as he faces the fight of his life.
