Ron DeSantis has been waging a culture war. The Trump-aligned governor of Florida recently signed off on the infamous “Don’t Say Gay” law. Disney, one of the state’s largest private employers, publicly denounced the bill, which makes it illegal to talk about certain subjects during school instruction.

Bill Maher recently fired off a rant about DeSantis’ attack on Disney in the wake of their disapproval. Desantis has moved to remove special tax and self-governing status for Disney World as retaliation for their stance against the law. Maher went so far as to say DeSantis is a demagogue.

On the most recent “Real Time,” Maher unloaded on DeSantis for politicizing such an innocuous issue. Maher said he was shocked to see that Disney has become the center of a political firestorm. Bill is definitely on their side on this issue.

“Florida passed the ‘Don’t say gay’ law, so Disney didn’t say anything. We just make fairies and elves, riding in teacups. And so, they got all sorts of sh*t from the left from that, because they always were one of the most gay-friendly companies in the world.

And now, Desantis, of course, he’s demagoguing this, but he wants to stop them from having their Vatican status there. And they just want to get people in the teacup.”

Disney brings an incredible amount of money into the state of Florida. DeSantis is aiming for a run at the presidency. Political posturing is fine, but Ron DeSantis is threatening one of the largest contributors to his state’s economy. Bill Maher thinks it is ridiculous.
