Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is facing quite a reaction after expressing support for a controversial bill. The so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill is being pushed through the Florida legislature. DeSantis recently expressed his support for signing the proposal into law.

Under the bill, the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity would be banned in schools in the state. Many parents of LGBTQ kids and activists have signaled a strong disapproval for Destantis’ support for the act. They claim the bill will make it illegal to discuss issues that teens struggle with enough already. President Biden has also come out vehemently against the proposed law.

“Imagine a bill barring your school from discussing you, a bill seeking to make an aspect of you invisible when you’re struggling to see and be your full self, and learn your full self in your world. These bills of bigotry are toxic to developing children.”

“Republicans to school kids:

Don’t say ‘gay’

Don’t ask for veggie meals at lunch

Don’t you dare read that book Active shooter drills? Hell, yeah. That’s freedom, baby. Republicans have lost their fucking minds.”

“Desantis has no platform so he creates ludicrous headliner “Don’t Say Gay” bills while ignoring C19. Pandering a$$hole.”

“First it was don’t discuss past or present issues of race, now its “Don’t say Gay” – what’s next? DeSantis has his own fascist laboratory with Florida practicing for if he gets installed as President.”

Ron DeSantis has been heavily rumored as a serious candidate to run for the presidency in 2024. Donald Trump appears to be his biggest rival at this stage. We’ll see if anyone steps up to try and unite the party or if the divisive rhetoric continues.
