Get ready, gamers! Netflix is about to level up its offerings with a major addition to its catalog, bringing three iconic Grand Theft Auto games to the streaming platform in the form of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

The exciting news was announced this week, and the games are set to become available on December 14th. Subscribers will gain access to Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, each in its Definitive Edition version, playable via the Netflix app, the App Store, and the Google Play Store.

This partnership between Netflix and Rockstar Games marks a significant move for the streaming giant into the world of gaming. While it was hinted earlier in the year that Netflix was eyeing the GTA series, the exact nature of their intentions remained unclear. Now, with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, Netflix is boldly stepping into the gaming arena.

The games are already up on mobile storefronts, and a thrilling trailer released by Netflix provides a sneak peek at what players can expect when they dive into these classics on their mobile devices.

Netflix stated, “Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is coming to Netflix on December 14 for Netflix members on the App Store, Google Play, and in the Netflix mobile app. Starting today, fans can pre-register to play Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, featuring the genre-defining titles of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, each updated for mobile.”

As it stands, it appears that being a Netflix subscriber will be the exclusive way to access these mobile versions of the Grand Theft Auto games. Listings on different app stores include disclaimers stating that they are “available exclusively for Netflix members.” It remains uncertain whether standalone versions of the games will be released on mobile outside of this Netflix deal. While you can already purchase some GTA games on mobile, they do not include the Definitive Editions featured in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition package.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition initially faced challenges upon its release, but subsequent updates have resolved many of the issues, making it a must-play for fans of the franchise. Rockstar also made the Definitive Edition trilogy available as a perk for GTA+ subscribers, offering an alternative way to enjoy the games if you’re subscribed to GTA+ but not Netflix.
