Amy Schumer began her career in comedy in the early 2000s, and in 2007 she competed in the fifth season of the NBC reality show Last Comic Standing. Amy hasn’t left the public eye since then, but she said she was traumatized and triggered when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. Her fans, however, believed she was seeking attention, and she received a lot of backlash as a result. Amy recently hinted that she might take some time off.

After receiving backlash for her reaction to the Oscars slap heard around the world, Amy Schumer hinted that she is ready for a break. “Out of office reply for the next month. Thanks,” the comedian captioned a new Instagram snapshot on Thursday, showing her cuddling in bed with her son, Gene.

Schumer recently addressed the shocking moment at the Academy Awards when Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. “I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall,” the I Feel Pretty actress wrote via social media alongside a photo of herself on Wednesday. “But for real. Still triggered and traumatized.”

Schumer expressed her pride in both herself and her co-hosts, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. Several critics blasted the Trainwreck star for making it all about her after she weighed in on what will undoubtedly become one of television’s most talked-about moments. One social media user remarked, “Shame she wants attention,” while another concurred. “Yeah sit this one out Amy,” they said.

Rock was apparently unaware that Jada suffers from alopecia, which may have prevented him from making the G.I. Jane joke, according to a source close to the situation. Following the events, the FCC received 66 complaints from viewers who were outraged by the incident. Will has since issued a public apology after Rock declined to press charges against him.

Let’s see if she takes a break for real. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
