The 2022 Golden Globe Awards were hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday night. The ceremony was not televised and there was no attendance. The winners were ultimately announced in a non-televised ceremony. Veteran South Korean actor O Yeong-su has created history by becoming the first Korean actor to win the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards.

He thereby defied all clichés about achievement and age. The 77-year-old actor portrayed player 001, a senior citizen named Oh Il-nam. He was the mysterious genius behind the deadly games at the epicenter of the groundbreaking Korean language survival drama series.

After the release of “Squid Game” last September, the actor, who has been active in South Korean theatre, television, and film for over 50 years, received international acclaim. O Yeong-su made a related statement regarding his achievement that was released by Netflix.

After hearing the news of the award, I told myself, ‘I’m a decent guy,’ for the first time in my life. Now, it’s no longer ‘us within the world,’ but it’s ‘the world within us.’ While embracing the scent of our culture and embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I give thanks to everyone in the world. I hope you all live beautiful lives. Thank you.
