Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier back in 2021. That incident changed his whole life in many ways, especially when it comes to how people perceived him. That being said, he still has his fair share of detractors. In fact, McGregor even got accused of chickening out of fights by several UFC fighters.

At UFC 274, Charles Oliveira beat Justin Gaethje in the main event of the pay-per-view. Oliveira had unfortunate luck as he lost his UFC Lightweight title due to being half a pound over the 155-pound limit before his fight against Gaethje.

Following his win, Oliveria called out Conor McGregor for a fight in the future. The two have been linked since then. In fact, Conor McGregor even made it clear he is down to facing Charles Oliveira in the future.

During a Q&A session in Rio de Janeiro prior to UFC 283, several UFC fighters were asked by a fan which of them had the greatest chance of defeating Conor McGregor among Jose Aldo, Charles Oliveira, or Rafael dos Anjos.

Rafael dos Anjos, who was slated to face Conor McGregor at UFC 196 back in 2016, claimed that the Irishman cherry-picks his fights.

“Conor picks his fights… Everybody wants this fight because it will be lucrative. He picks his fights. When he feels that’s the fight for him, he’ll choose it. We’ll be waiting but we’ll continue fighting in the meantime.”

Charles Oliveira supported Dos Anjos’ statement and asserted that McGregor has been avoiding a match against him. He then accused McGregor of chickening out of fights.

“McGregor chickened out a long time ago. Like Rafael said, he handpicks his fights. I think he looks at the guy and thinks ‘I can beat this one,’ and then he signs the contract. He’s right not to fight me because he knows what will happen.”

Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh is also confident that McGregor will make his return to the Octagon this year. Conor McGregor is also busy filming a movie in the meantime. We will have to wait and see who McGregor will face next once he makes his UFC return.
