Nicki Minaj is one of the industry’s controversial rappers who never hold back when it comes to expressing her opinion. Because of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West once rejected Nicki Minaj’s possible Yeezy Partnership; this may be the root of the current issue. Nicki Minaj recently appeared to diss Kanye West while performing at the Essence Festival.

Nicki Minaj stopped midway through her rendition of “Monster,” Friday night at Essence Festival, she said that she doesn’t “f*ck with clowns”. Numerous fans considered Minaj’s guest verse on the Kanye West song to be her greatest.

Nicki’s DJ started playing “Monster, Inc.” after she performed some of her biggest songs, including “Do We Have A Problem,” “We Go Up,” “Did It On ‘Em,” and “Beez in the Trap.” The rapper prompted her sentence in between that she don’t f*ck with the clowns.

“A monster though! A monster though! But we don’t f*ck with clowns.”

Minaj then presented Birdman, the other co-founder of Cash Money Records, and Lil Wayne as her special guests for the show. The song was “#1 Stunna, High School, Truffle Butter, Seeing Green, and A Milli.”

It’s not clear what caused the two musicians’ relationship to become strained, if Minaj’s remarks were meant to be seen as a dig. The recent collaboration between West and Cardi B on “Hot Sh*t” sparked some internet fans’ theories that there may be more behind this. After all, Nicki and Cardi aren’t the best of friends.

After Minaj’s performance, West did not comment on the situation. 2010 saw the debut of “Monster,” which was a tune on Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his fifth studio album. The song also includes Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Bon Iver in addition to Minaj.

On Sunday, Summer Walker, The Roots and Friends, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and other artists are expected to perform at the Essence Festival’s continuing stage. Do you want them to see them on stage? For further updates, stay tuned to Thirsty.
