Kanye West is going strong with his social media by posting memes and weird poems. Ye and Kim Kardashian’s drama has been well documented ever since the two split. It seems Kanye once turned down Nicki Minaj’s potential Yeezy Partnership because of Kim.

Nicki Minaj sat down for an in-depth conversation with Joe Budden, and we’ve all been blasted with soundbites. Nicki Minaj’s Fendi partnership was incredibly lucrative for both the rapper and the luxury brand. She told Budden that she approached Kanye West about a possible Yeezy collaboration shortly before to the deal.

Despite approaching West about a fashion collaboration, everything fell through because Ye had some concerns. He thought that the partnership would upset his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. Eventually, Kanye had to turn down the offer and Nicki discussed the story with Budden.

He was like, ‘Well, if I did something with you, I think my wife probably wouldn’t love that idea because I should be giving that to my wife instead. If I was doing a female version of the Yeezys or whatever, it probably should go to my wife.’ Kanye was very vocal about the fashion industry not letting him in at one time, so if a Black female who you know has just shown herself to be sellable in that space. I come to you as a Black man that I look up to, I’m doing that because you inspired me, because you said the fashion industry didn’t want to let us in even though we’re so influential.

Minaj, on the other hand, stated that she has no idea if Kim was offended by the notion, but hearing West suggest it could be a problem was enough for her to let it go. Check out Budden’s and Nicki Minaj’s interview below if you haven’t already.
