Will Smith famously smacked comedian Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards when Rock made a crude remark about the actor’s wife, Jada-Pinkett Smith, who has openly acknowledged her alopecia. Chris Rock is finally ready to make public jokes about the 2022 Academy Awards smackdown, which blew out in March.

Since then, Rock has largely avoided discussing the incident, but during his new live comedy act, “Ego Death,” he said that words don’t hurt as much as being punched in the face. According to the Times of London, Rock remarked during his performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the United Kingdom that he got his hearing back.

I’m OK, if anybody was wondering. I got most of my hearing back.

He also stated that he would not be discussing his altercation with Smith. The comedian previously indicated that he would not discuss the slap until he received a payment in his name. However, during a surprise visit to the Comedy Cellar in New York City just a week before his casino performance, the creator of “Everybody Hates Chris” told fans to lower their expectations.

His mother Rose Rock, spoke about the incident during an interview with South Carolina’s WISNEWS10 and revealed that the incident not only affected Chris but her as well. Will Smith has apologized but he continues to be backlashed. Rose’s opinions are not any different from the opinions of celebrities like Judd Apatow and Jim Carrey who also shared their overall feedback.
