Taylor Hawkins, the award-winning drummer for the Foo Fighters, died while the band was on tour. The entire music industry is in mourning over an unexpected loss. Travis Barker recently paid tribute to the drummer by sharing a lengthy emotional post about him.

Barker paid tribute to his fellow musician with an Instagram post dedicated in his honor early Saturday morning, shortly after the Foo Fighters drummer died at the age of 50.

“I don’t have the words,” the Blink-182 drummer began the caption of his post, which accompanied a black-and-white image of Hawkins sitting at a music venue. “Sad to write this or to never see you again.”

Barker then wrote that he remembered their two bands touring together in Australia years later and that he has “the best memories of smoking cigarettes in the restroom of flights we were on together and watching your set every night.” “To say I’ll miss you my friend isn’t enough,” he concluded his post. “Till the next time we talk drums and smoke in the boy’s room … Rest In Peace.”

“I don’t have the words. Sad to write this or to never see you again. I’ll never forget Laguna Beach days when I was a trash man playing in a punk rock band and you were playing with Alanis. You’d come watch me play in dive bars and be like, “kid you’re a star.” And I thought you were crazy but you gave me so much hope and determination. Years later we toured together with Blink and Foo’s in Australia and I have the best memories of smoking cigarettes in the restroom of flights we were on together and watching your set every night. To say I’ll miss you my friend isn’t enough. Till the next time we talk drums and smoke in the boys room …”

The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, and Rami Jaffee confirmed Hawkins’ death in a statement posted to their Twitter account on Friday. The cause of Hawkins’ death is still unclear but those close to the drummer suggest that consumption of drugs may have played a role in his sudden demise.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.”

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

The band was previously on tour in South America and performed earlier this week at Lollapalooza Argentina. The Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá, Colombia, on Friday. However, at the festival, organizers announced that the band, who were the headliners, would not be performing due to a medical emergency.

Along with Barker, a slew of other celebrities also paid tribute to Hawkins after his death was announced. May his soul Rest In Peace. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
