Ben Simmons spent the first half of this NBA season trying to escape from Philadelphia. Simmons didn’t trust the team’s medical staff and refused to play. The Sixers were finally able to move Ben to the Brooklyn Nets at the trade deadline in exchange for James Harden.

Philadelphia fans won’t get the chance to welcome Ben Simmons back in their unique way. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Simmons will travel to Philadelphia with the team. Ben will watch the game from the bench.

“Ben Simmons will not play in Thursday’s Nets-76ers – but is expected to make the return trip to Philadelphia and join team on bench inside Wells Fargo Center, sources say.”

Ben Simmons was the #1 overall pick in the 2016 draft. Simmons has the potential to be a major superstar in the league. Ben also hasn’t played a game since last summer when the Sixers lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs.
