Ben Simmons has Philadelphia sports fans fuming. Since being booted from practice and suspended earlier this year, he’s put his home on the market. Simmons is clear that he doesn’t want to play for the 76ers. Now he has been fined $360,000 for missing a game.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team has resumed fining Simmons. The malcontent point guard has not appeared in a game for Philadelphia this season. Simmons missed Thursday night’s victory over the Detroit Pistons, and now the team will continuously fine him until he cooperates with the team.

“The Sixers will again place Simmons’ future salary into an escrow account, sources said. Earlier this season, the Sixers released Simmons’ money from escrow after he had been initially cooperative on a path toward returning to play.”

The team office says they’ve been trying to get Simmons help for his mental health issues. The team has become frustrated because he’s not participating. The next step is making Ben pay with his pocketbook.

Simmons has been participating in light basketball activities at the team’s training facility. The fines will continue until he resumes strength training, film study, and establishes a presence at practice and shootarounds.

The Sixers have been a surprisingly good team this year. With Tobias Harris out with COVID-19, the team ran off three straight victories. They now sit at 7-2 and are in first place in the Eastern Conference.
