Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has led to an international outcry against the Russian dictator’s regime. Huge corporations like Apple have stopped doing business in the country. FIFA has banned Russia from the World Cup. Things are getting worse by the day as sanctions and boycotts continue to cripple Putin’s ability to run Russia.

Several companies are still happily doing business in Russia. Coca-Cola received the ire of Twitter yesterday after it was revealed that they are still operating there. Today, McDonald’s is the big target. #BoycottMcDonalds began trending after a Reuters report noted that the fast-food giant is still open across Russia.

“#BoycottMcDonalds Your burgers were full of trash, and so are your corporate boards. #Ukriane”

“LMAO! I can’t boycott McDonalds since I don’t eat toxic waste in first place. #BoycottMcDonalds”

“#BoycottMcDonalds Until they follow Coke and pull out of Russia!”

“Coca Cola, PepsiCo, McDonald’s – you are all still operating in Russia. Shame on you!!! Let’s all get healthy! #BoycottCocaCola #BoycottPepsi #BoycottMcDonalds”

International condemnation of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has online activists going crazy lately. Every company that does business with Russia is a potential target. Time will tell if there will be enough pressure on McDonald’s to bail on Russia.
