2016’s Suicide Squad film was written and directed by David Ayer. Despite being a Box Office success, grossing over $740 million at the worldwide box office. the film was panned by both fans and critics. The Suicide Squad, the franchise’s 2021 soft reboot has received a much different critical reception with a 90% fresh ranking on Rotten Tomatoes.

John Cena’s role as the Peacemaker certainly won him over with the fans. So much so, that he currently has his own Peacemaker spinoff series. In fact, the spinoff is DC’s best-reviewed project to date.

The show concluded its first season recently, as fans were certainly happy with how season 1 wrapped up its story. It also featured a key scene that was pivotal for Cena’s and Jennifer Holland’s characters.

James Gunn took to Twitter and revealed that John Cena legitimately teared up when he held Jennifer Holland’s hand during the hospital scene in the final episode of the first season.

In the hospital scene, @johncena broke out in tears when he took @jennlholland’s hand & she started crying. The camera wasn’t on him. Probably the most vulnerable moment in #Harcourt’s life. #PeacemakerParty #peacemaker

Peacemaker was already renewed for a second season on HBO Max even before the first season concluded. We will have to wait and see whether the second season will end up being better than the first or not.
