John Cena broke through as an actor with his role as Peacemaker in last Summer’s “The Suicide Squad.” Cena gave an edgy, energetic performance that showed a completely different side of the wrestling legend than fans were used to. The show was an immediate hit for HBO Max.

Series creator James Gunn announced today that Peacemaker had been picked up for a second season. Gunn thanked the cast and crew as well as the fans who made the show a success. The tweet got 11,000 likes in less than an hour. It appears DC Extended Universe fans are very excited.

“That’s right, #Peacemaker is coming back for Season Two. Thanks to Peter Safran, @JohnCena, our incredible cast & crew, our wildly supportive & lovely friends at @HBOMax – and mostly all of you for watching!”

WWE on Fox also shared a tweet congratulating John Cena on the show’s renewal. Peacemaker created a huge buzz with its use of adult humor and situations. John was perfectly cast in the role.

The renewal of Peacemaker is proof that Cena has what it takes to lead a series as an actor. Several other WWE superstars have gone on to major careers. Dave Bautista also took the superhero route and has received plenty of acclaim for his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become the biggest drawing leading man in Hollywood.

There hasn’t been any announcement about when fans can expect the second season of Peacemaker. At least now there has been a confirmation that season two is coming. Fans with a little bit of patience will be rewarded in due time!
