Demi Lovato completed a short stint at rehab over the holidays. They had another surprise in store. The singer stunned fans by revealing a sprawling “grandmother spider” tattoo etched onto the side of their skull.

Lovato’s return to rehab came after they told fans that being “California sober” that is drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana would no longer work for them. The 29-year performer shared on Instagram, “I no longer support my ‘California sober’ ways,” in early December. They received a lot of support from followers.

A few weeks later, Lovato debuted a shaved head look that started speculations about her being back at rehab. The Heart Attack singer then showed the dramatic new inking weeks after debuting their buzz cut hair style. They also revealed the symbolic meaning behind the tattoo on their Instagram page.

In the story caption, they called on their stylist to fix their hair. The former Disney channel star further explained their tattoo choice. They wrote: “It was grandmother spider who taught us many things. She taught us about pottery and weaving. She taught us about fire and light and dark. She taught us that we are all connected on the web – each one of us having our place in this world.” Demi aptly finished off their message with a black Emoji love heart and a spider emoji.

Demi took to their page as they were sitting in the tattoo chair of Dr Woo. They wore a black leather jacket as the tattoo artist stood creating his design on the left side of their head. Demi’s hair had been shaved down even shorter to allow access for the needle, it created a two-toned effect.
