Big Sean is no longer a member of the G.O.O.D. Music family. After a 14 year partnership, Sean now says he’s on his own label. The Detroit rapper shared the news on the heels of dropping What You Expect, a collaboration with Hit-Boy that came out on October 29.

After tweeting the announcement, Big Sean replied to a fan who asked about the split. Sean was diplomatic with his response. It sounds like there are no hard feelings between Sean and G.O.O.D.

“That’s a forever brotherhood, but business wise, I had to start getting a bigger cut! I worked my way out that deal.”

Last week, Big Sean posted some sentimental if not shady tweets about his former label. He claims that he doesn’t know why the relationship went stale. He also said that it’s nothing but love.

Big Sean released five solo albums on the G.O.O.D. Music label. Kanye West signed the rapper after seeing him perform on a Detroit radio station back in 2005. Sean was an emerging battle rapper in the famous Detroit scene at the time.

What You Expect is available on all the usual streaming outlets. Big Sean’s new label, FF to Def Entertainment, is a subsidiary of Def Jam Recordings. Kanye’s label also falls under the Def Jam umbrella.
