Due to his refusal to get vaccinated, Kyrie Irving could miss up to 45 games this season. It seems Irving couldn’t care less about missing out on the seasons as even his coach has accepted that fact.
Irving was put on blast for it and heavily criticized by several people, including former NBA players such as Raja Bell. Now it seems the reason for his refusal has been revealed.
While speaking during an Instagram live session, Kyrie Irving addressed his retirement rumors due to not getting vaccinated and wasted no time in shooting them down.
“Don’t believe that I’m retiring, don’t believe that I’ma give up this game for a vaccine mandate or staying unvaccinated.
Don’t believe any of that sh*t, man. Really, be aware of what’s being said. Before I even get a chance to be on a podium and speak for myself, you know what I’m saying? All these people saying all these things about what’s going on with me and it’s not true.”
“Pay attention to what’s going on out in the real world. People are losing their jobs to these mandates. People are having to make choices with their own lives which I respect and I don’t wanna sit here and play on people’s emotions, either. Just use logic. What would you do? If you felt uncomfortable going into the season when you were promised that you would have exemptions or that you wouldn’t have to be forced to get the vaccine. This wasn’t an issue before the season started.”
Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks recently revealed that Kyrie Irving will not practice or play for the Brooklyn Nets until he is ready to be a full-time participant. It is unlikely Irving will get vaccinated anytime soon from the looks of it and that is not going to change.
