A cemetery worker based in New York lost his life after a grave that he was digging collapsed around him. He was buried alive and found much later to the shock of the officials.

Rodwin Allicock, aged 42, was found dead in an odd accident on Thursday while he was digging a grave at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai.

Allicock was leveling out the bottom of the grave at around 8.30 am when the loose soil around the grave fell on him and buried him. This was according to a statement released by the Suffolk County police.

On realizing what happened, his co-workers rushed to the spot and attempted to dig him out. But it was too late for the gravedigger. Four local fire departments along with members from the Police Emergency Service Section were also called to the scene but they were not able to revive him. He was pronounced dead on the spot.
