Collectors and fans of unique console designs had a chance to own a rare Xbox Series S based on the movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2, complete with fuzzy controllers inspired by Sonic and Knuckles.

The custom design, which was obtained by the seller through their work in the gaming industry and originally sent to members of the press by Microsoft, made its way to eBay, where it was listed for $5,000.

This particular Xbox Series S design was never made available to the general public and was considered a limited edition item. The seller estimated that only a small number, between 5 and 50, of these consoles were ever released, adding to its rarity and appeal among collectors.

While the auction for this unique console design has ended with only one bidder, it showcases the strong interest in specialty Xbox designs inspired by popular franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog. Microsoft has previously created various custom designs through sweepstakes, generating attention on social media, but these designs remain limited in availability. Fans hope that Microsoft might consider offering more of these custom console variants to the general public in the future.
