The Hollywood sign is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world and almost everyone in the world knows it. That being said, it seems a man threatened to blow up the sign, with a plan straight out of an Austin Powers movie.

According to TMZ, a man called the Hollywood Police Department and threatened to blow up the famous L.A. landmark with pipe bombs. The man then demanded to be paid $10,000, or else he would commit the crime.

It was said that the man did not even call up the right department. While trying to contact Los Angeles, the man accidentally called up the police in Hollywood, Florida. It was said that the Florida HPD contacted their LA branch and informed them of the bizarre threat.

It was further added that the Los Angeles Police Department checked it out, and found no credible threat whatsoever. There have been no arrests, but the case is under investigation.

The Hollywood sign is under 24/7 video surveillance, so it is always watched closely, which is why it is almost impossible to get to the sign, but some have been able to do it in the past. Regardless, it is unlikely the man will get to blow up the sign anytime soon.
