Amanda Seyfried began her career as a soap opera actor, but she quickly found stardom in movies and hasn’t looked back since. She has appeared in a number of films throughout the years. In a recent interview, Seyfried discussed an odd move she had to perform for a movie audition.

Seyfried auditioned for the role of a witch in the upcoming musical/fantasy movie “Wicked,” but failed to score the part. While speaking to Backstage, the 36-year-old actress revealed that working in this movie was actually a long-held dream of hers.

Last summer while I was playing Elizabeth [in The Dropout], on the weekends I was auditioning in person to play Glinda in the movie version of Wicked — because I wanted it that much that I was like, ‘You know what? Yeah, I have to play the last scene of The Dropout on Tuesday. I’ll give my Sunday to you,’

Seyfried then spoke about how she “bent over backwards’ for this role. Even though she didn’t get the role, the actress said she learned a valuable lesson. That part eventually went to Ariana Grande. Seyfried’s passion for musicals has been extensively documented in the media, and she is ready for any future comparable parts.

I literally bent over backwards while playing the hardest role of my life. But I think it also taught me how far I’ve come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since Les Miz, I was like, ‘I need to be better. I need to do better.’ So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I’m finally prepared.

The movie was initially set to be released on Dec. 22, 2021, however, it was delayed due to COVID-19-related production issues. A couple of months back, “Wicked” directed suggested that fans should the movies on successive Christmas holidays in 2024.
