Ja Morant is coming off a monster year with the Memphis Grizzlies. His team came within two wins of reaching the NBA Finals. Morant has emerged as one of the most exciting stars in the entire league.

Despite his team coming up short in their quest for a championship, Ja Morant has no lack of confidence. He is so sure of his skills that he confidently stated he could take on one of the NBA’s all-time greats in his prime. Ja thinks he could beat Michael Jordan.

Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks spoke to Ja Morant recently. He asked the Memphis star several questions about Michael Jordan. Ja said he would have had no trouble handling MJ, even in the prime of his career.

“I heard he was like — just how he go about the game, just that mindset that he had, I would like to play against him.

I would have cooked him, too. Nobody got more confidence than 12. I’m definitely not going to go and say somebody is going to beat me in 1-on-1 on any day.”

Fans will have to wait and see if Ja Morant’s extreme confidence carries over into next season. Michael Jordan is considered not just the greatest of his era, but potentially of all time. Morant still has plenty to achieve to get even close to that level, but he certainly believes he’s better.
