Elon Musk garnered lot of support from conservatives in the past week when he spoke about his political affiliation. However, a latest piece of information might get those people turn against him.

According to Business Insider, Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, is paying for employees to receive out-of-state abortions. However, this might not have anything to do with leaked court documents that suggested overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Tesla Inc calls this program “expanded Safety Net program and health insurance offering,” and it was noted that company started providing it last year. This also includes “travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state.”

Elon Musk relocated his Tesla Headquarters to Austin, Texas last year. The state has banned abortion and restrictive laws regarding it. Which explains why the company started this program last year.

This is not the the first company that is paying for employees to get abortion out-of-state. Companies have started doing this to bypass restricted access to abortion in their state.

Musk’s newly purchased company, Twitter, is located in California where the abortion laws are little tamer, so he’d be saving lot of employee expenses on that. You can read Tesla’s 2021 Impact Report here.
