LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had a very frustrating season. The team failed to build any chemistry. Their star-studded roster didn’t perform. A preseason favorite to win a championship, the Lakers completely crashed and burned.

Many have speculated that a rebuild might be in order. That would include trying to swing a deal for LeBron James. King James frequently expressed his disapproval of the way things were going throughout the season.

Lakers legend Magic Johnson doesn’t think that is the right way to go. Magic spoke to TMZ Sports and said he hopes the team hangs on to LeBron for a long time. The all-time great was not on board with the idea.

“LeBron, I hope, will be a Laker for a long time.”

Magic Johnson went on to say that he isn’t sure who should coach the Lakers. He said he was not interested, but that Phil Jackson was helping with the search. The franchise fired former head man Frank Vogel after the team wrapped up their season.

The Lakers most likely aren’t thinking of trading LeBron James. The team is unlikely to make any sort of move until a new head coach is in place. Magic Johnson doesn’t think LeBron James leaving town should be a part of any kind of rebuilding project.
