The Los Angeles Lakers thought they had a dream team heading into the 2021-2022 season. Head coach Frank Vogel just had to show up, and the wins would come. The campaign was instead plagued by injuries and a lack of team chemistry that sent the team home without even qualifying for the postseason. That failure has led the front office to make some major changes.

There will be a new head man in Los Angeles next year. Frank Vogel has been fired by the Lakers. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the firing was imminent.

Rumors had swirled that the team was done with Vogel. Today, they made it official. The LA Lakers made the announcement official with a social media post thanking their former coach.

Frank Vogel led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship during the COVID-19 bubble season. They were perennial favorites to win it all under Vogel. This season’s collapse gave the team no choice but to part ways. Lakers fans won’t settle for anything but a championship contender.

On antoher note, LeBron James said that he cannot currently discuss his future with the team. We will have to see what’s next for the L.A. Lakers, but they are moving on from Vogel.
