Musk closed the deal to buy the social media giant for $44 billion and has decided to take the company private. It appears this didn’t sit well with some politicians. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., told Bloomberg, “We’re thinking about” the possibility of hearings.

Commerce Committee member Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., said Twitter is “central to democracy and our economy.” The committee has previously held hearings with Mark Zuckerberg, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai as well. Now, Musk is their new target.

“We have to understand the censorship or lack thereof, content moderation or not, that is going to be the policy for the new owner,” Sen. Ed Markey told Bloomberg
