Benzino is no stranger to inviting controversy. The Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star previously invited backlash for his beef with rap icon Eminem. Now, Benzino is offering his controversial take on homosexuality.

The 56-year-old record producer recently appeared on VladTV to talk about homosexuality. Benzino offered a rather bizarre take on the subject by saying that one cannot be gay if they didn’t grow up around gay people.

“When I grew up in Boston… I didn’t grow up around people who were gay. I rarely seen it. I think the biggest thing is, how does somebody become gay?”

He also brought up his daughter’s Coi Leray recent chat with Nicki Minaj wherein she talked about her sexuality. Benzino praised the “Blick Blick” songstress for admitting she isn’t a lesbian.

“Coi making that statement kind of gives a little clarity to the situation… You think to yourself, ‘Well why did she think that?’ Because there was nobody gay in our family for her to grow up around to be gay.”

This is certainly a hot take from Benzino. It also won’t land well with very many people. We’ll have to see how things turn out, but at least he is proud of his daughter’s decision to be so open out her straightness.
