Draymond Green’s importance to the Golden State Warriors cannot be overstated. Green’s recent injury led the Warriors to a five game losing streak. It was recently announced that Green would make his return against the Washington Wizards. It just so happened to fall on teammate Steph Curry’s birthday.

The celebration was a major success. Green finally shared the floor with Curry after 2 1/2 months apart. It had been 1,005 days since Clay Thompson, Curry, and Draymond played together as a trio.

The difference was night and day as the Warriors defeated the Wizards 126-112. Draymond Green entered the game at the 4:47 mark in the opening quarter. Steph called a play that centered around Green directing traffic. It resulted in a three pointer from the wing from Curry. Green said he felt the two clicking immediately.

“He threw me right in the fire. I checked in, and he called a play where I had the ball. And I was very thankful for that because it immediately allowed me to settle down.

That’s one thing I won’t forget. I may forget a lot of things, but one thing I won’t forget: how to get him the ball.”

All told, Steph Curry scored 41 points while Draymond Green was on the floor. The dynamic immediately changed. If they remain healthy, the Golden State Warriors are going to be a formidable playoff opponent for any NBA squad.
