After being accused of a double homicide, YNW Melly is battling for his life. In 2018, the Florida rapper was charged with killing two of his friends. However, it seems like a new development has come up recently in the YNW Melly case.

YNW Melly’s defense team has now withdrawn their request for a quick trial in his case, in which he is charged with two counts of murder dating back to 2019. Melly’s lawyers requested that the trial be postponed for 30 days so that both sides could put out their best efforts in the next procedures.

Melly and his legal team will be able to make their defense ready and cohesive with the extra 30 days. The attorneys will try to tie up loose ends, such as finding prospective witnesses in the case, such as YNW Melly’s ex-girlfriend and mother.

Prosecutors are arguing that YNW Melly should be sentenced to death since his intentions and conduct in the crimes were “cold, calculated, and premeditated.” With Melly’s team’s plea for a speedy trial being denied, the trial will begin picking a jury on April 4th, with the actual trial beginning on May 23rd in Florida. While we don’t know all of the details on what will happen next, you can count on Thirsty to keep you updated in the following months.
