Cain Velasquez Arrested After Shooting Incident

Cain Velasquez had a shining career in the Octagon and a shorter career in the squared circle. As we previously reported, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE Superstar was involved in a shooting incident in San Jose.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on this story. Meltzer discussed the fact that it took place in the intersection between Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue, which is not too far away from the place where Cain lives. The former MMA fighter was arrested as another was taken to the hospital.

Yeah this afternoon… It was on Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue, which is not too far from the AKA Gym basically on the way where Cain lives. There was a shooting and it involved two people; and one it in the hospital and one is in jail. One who’s in jail is Cain Velasquez. So that kinda tells you who did the shooting and it’s pretty much it. I mean, as far as I care, nothing else is really known but he’s being held without bail. Don’t know anything about who the other person is.

The police had been pretty sketchy about it. I had heard one of my friends who was a police officer here, had contacted me actually before RAW started but I didn’t find out until after RAW was over. And he just said there’s a shooting on Monterey Highway and Cain Velasquez is involved. And they thought he was the one who did the shooting so that’s really all we know, but, yeah, don’t know anything much else.

Cain Velasquez was booked in the Santa Clara jail. We will continue monitoring this ongoing situation.

The two-time UFC heavyweight champion, made his debut in WWE during the first episode of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX back in 2019. He immediately began a feud with Brock Lesnar, who was the WWE Champion at the time. However, his run in the company turned out to be very short and not memorable whatsoever.

The shooting happened at around 3:14 p.m. west coast time on Monday. Police have since advised the public to avoid this area, and many details regarding the shooting weren’t disclosed.
