Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon married after only a few weeks of dating in 2008. Nick filed for divorce shortly after the couple separated in 2014, but their divorce was not finalized until 2016. Now it appears that Nick wants Mariah back in his life, but she may have a different definition of love.

Just two days after releasing an ode to his ex-wife, Mariah shared a glimpse of her Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend of more than five years, Bryan Tanaka. The Grammy winner captioned their Instagram selfie from February 15th, “The Valentine’s marathon continues. Hour 23!” And, as Mariah’s Instagram followers correctly pointed out, given the timing, there’s a chance she heard the ballad from her ex-husband, the father of their 10-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Those who say “I don’t know her” to Nick’s new single “Alone” should know that he begins by saying he “has nothing but love” for Mariah, his wife of six years. He also acknowledges that she has moved on since their 2014 breakup, singing, “Imma keep my distance, stay in my lane / Cause I know you got a man, it’s a little too late.”

Nick hasn’t exactly been riding solo, having had five more children with three different women in the last four years, with another on the way. But, as Nick puts it, nothing compares to his undying love for Mariah.

“I’d been lyin’ / I say I’m cool when I know I miss it. I’d trade it all for the case / If I could have you back / If I could go back to where we started at.”

In the single, Nick also revealed that his personal life is one of the reasons he’s decided to stay away.

“As much as I want you back / It’s probably better where you at. Cause I’m still running the streets / I’m still all in the sheets having babies / Models and singers and actresses saying they pregnant by me.”

“Have to pay $10,000 a week / I take care of my peeps / Now you don’t worry about when I creep / You got a man next to you when you sleep.”

Perhaps Nick Cannon had a difficult Valentine’s Day. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
