Starz’s drama series, Heels will begin filming for the second season in Georgia in March. A handful of the series’ stars have already begun physical preparation for their parts. The series, set in the fictional town of Duffy, Georgia, is a deep dive into independent professional wrestling and what motivates those who chase and sustain their aspirations.

The Spade family is at the epicenter of the story, as they try to keep the Duffy Wrestling League afloat after the recent death of the family patriarch, famed pro wrestler Tom Spade. The battles Jack and his brother Ace have behind the scenes about what’s best for the promotion are nothing compared to the battles they have in front of the public.

Simultaneously, Jack’s unwavering obsession and drive to keep the DWL afloat financially in the face of another promotion encroaching on their territory has repercussions for his family, particularly his wife Staci Spade, played brilliantly by Broadway star Alison Luff in her first major starring TV role.

Meanwhile, Ace’s valet and love interest Crystal contends with the indignity of “just” being a valet, despite the fact that it’s clear her great knowledge into the industry is only surpassed by her passion for Ace. CM Punk as grizzled Southern wrestling veteran Ricky Rabies and Mick Foley as a podcaster who will stop at nothing to get to the truth during an interview with Jack Spade made appearances in the first season of the series, which was nothing short of excellent.

The series’ principal wrestling coordinator is Luke Hawx (Logan, The Fate of the Furious), a long-time wrestler and stunt actor. In emmy, e magazine for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Hawx was profiled for his work as the Wrestling Coordinator on Starz’s Heels.

The first season’s promotional materials stated, “Heels is a gripping drama that tells the story of two brothers, played by Amell and Ludwig, chasing their dreams of becoming professional wrestlers and the people in their orbit. In November 2021, Starz announced that a second season had been ordered.
