Dak Prescott found himself mired in controversy after a comment he made following his Dallas Cowboys’ playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dallas QB was upset with how the game ended and thought the officials were to blame. Dak praised fans who threw beer bottles and other debris at the refs.

Prescott was given several chances to walk back the original statement on that day. Dak was still emotional from a tough playoff defeat. It seems like the quarterback is feeling more contrite now.

The Cowboys star issued a statement on the matter via Twitter. Dak said he regrets the comments. Emotions got the best of Prescott.

“I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday.

I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair.

I hold the NFL Officials in the highest regard and have always respected their professionalism and the difficulty of their jobs. The safety of everyone who attends a game or participates on the field of a sporting event is a very serious matter.

That was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”

Dallas fans seemed to be largely in agreement with Dak Prescott. It was a terrible end to a terrific season. Further review reveals that the officials didn’t determine the outcome of the game. It was poor clock management and field awareness that led to the Cowboy’s downfall.
