Weird Al Yankovic is truly one-of-a-kind. The comedy musician has been a watchdog of American popular culture since the 1980’s. The popular parody artist has even starred in his own movies and television shows. Weird Al is a legend.

Daniel Radcliffe is most famous for his role as Harry Potter. Radcliffe has moved on to more diverse projects. Daniel has even acted on stage. The success of the Harry Potter franchise has allowed him to stick to projects he wants to work on.

Variety has reported that Roku will be producing an upcoming biopic about the life and work of Weird Al. “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” will be The Roku Channel’s first biographical original movie. Daniel Radcliffe has been cast to star as the zany entertainer. Weird Al issued a statement celebrating the news.

“When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule. And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

Al’s signature self-deprecating humor was evident in his words. Weird Al is never afraid to make fun of the irony of his own success. Daniel Radcliffe will have to bring a very complex character into focus to nail the role.

Weird Al Yankovic is the highest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. Al’s “Mandatory Fun” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, the first comedy record ever to do so. Fans will be looking forward to Daniel Radcliffe’s take on the worldwide phenomenon that is Weird Al.
