Weird Al Yankovic wants the world to know that Kid Rock‘s new video is not one of his famous parodies. The comedy musician took to Twitter to shade the singer for his “Don’t Tell Me How To Live” clip. In the song, Kid Rock complains about “snowflakes” while singing about how much he lets other people’s opinions bother him.

The irony of the song wasn’t lost on the clever Yankovic. Al tweeted that the video didn’t involve him. He was responding to fan reaction that the hypocritical song had to have been a parody.

“To everybody that’s congratulating me right now on my new Kid Rock parody video, let me clarify – that’s not me. That’s actually Kid Rock.”

The over-the-top video features the singer straddling a giant finger and firing a gun. Between the contents of the video and the lyrics, it’s no wonder fans can’t take it seriously. Fans responded favorably to Weird Al’s criticism.

“Please alert the authorities about a murder here on Twitter.”

“Weird Al is slamming Kid Rock harder than the @TheRock slamming @VinceMcMahon”

“That’s it. Nothing will be funnier than this. The Kid Rock discourse has peaked. Weird Al, you absolute legend!”

Kid Rock’s video currently has over 1.5 million views on YouTube. While they may not be the kind of traffic he’s looking for, he’ll surely take the exposure. Maybe Weird Al can do a parody of the song and really break the internet.

What do you think of Kid Rock’s strange new video? Let us know in the comments!
