Eminem, the lyrical wizard, is reaching new heights with his unparalleled talent. With so many accomplishments in 2021, Slim Shady started 2022 on the same note. His album “The Eminem Show” has surpassed 3.6 billion Spotify streams.

Marshall Mathers disclosed the inspiration behind his album “The Eminem Show” on May 30, 2017. He remarked that his record was influenced by “The Truman Show,” one of the best films ever made. Eminem also turned to Instagram to share the surprise inspiration for the album: Jim Carrey.

“The concept 4 the Eminem show was inspired by The Truman Show because my life felt like it was becoming a circus around that time and I felt like I was always being watched. Basically, Jim Carrey wrote my album.”

Carrey’s character, Truman Burbank, had his whole life aired as a reality television show in the 1998 film ‘The Truman Show.’  He had no clue that his life was being controlled by a director.

At the time of the launch of The Eminem Show in 2002, Eminem was practically at the pinnacle of stardom. Perhaps all of the attention was too much for Eminem, and he felt watched in the same way that Truman did. Eminem’s classic is now Spotify’s 73rd most played album of all time. It is the only album from the pre-streaming era to have climbed that high on the chart.

So far, “The Eminem Show” is his sole endeavor with over 3 billion Spotify streams. However, “Recovery,” which now has 2.97 billion streams, and “The Marshall Mathers LP2,” which currently has 2.91 billion streams, will soon approach the same height.

Eminem’s music has always helped his followers get through difficult times in life. Em’s albums are constantly inspired by his struggles, to which many people can relate. The year 2022 has hardly begun, and Eminem has already established his dominion.
