Jon Jones is considered one of the best fighters in the history of the UFC for many fans. For the past few months, Jones had made it his life’s mission to go after Francis Ngannou’s UFC Heavyweight Championship. Jones has also been on a mission to get paid.
Bones Jones had been working very hard to make it to the Heavyweight division in the UFC. The journey has certainly been a very difficult one for him. It was even said that he was iced for speaking up about fighter pay.
Jones had revealed in the past that he felt undervalued and simply wanted to be paid better. Unfortunately for Jones, it was previously stated that he will not be facing Ngannou anytime soon.
For the past few months, Jon Jones has made it clear that he wants to return to the Octagon next year and even recently revealed that he plans on becoming a champion next year
While speaking with MMA Junkie, Francis Ngannou was asked about Jon Jones making a return to the UFC in 2022. Ngannou made it clear that he doubts Jon Jones will return.
“Personally, I don’t really care about that anymore, you know. There’s a lot of talk about Jon Jones. He says a lot of things, and yet we are still here. And I wasn’t even expecting fighting someone other than Jon Jones after the Stipe [Miocic] fight. But here I am, almost 10 months away, going to fight Ciryl Gane, which wasn’t in the picture, in the landscape, at that moment, at all. So, what Jon Jones says, and what Jon Jones does, it’s two different things. And I can’t bet on that. I can’t put my money on that. You know, so, as I said, I just do what I gonna do, and we don’t know what the future holds for us.”
Dana White confirmed Jon Jones is nowhere near the UFC Heavyweight Title picture. We will have to wait and see who Jon Jones’ next opponent will be, should he return next year.
