Executives at Dancing With the Stars are searching for a replacement for Tyra Banks as the show’s host, according to a new report. Ratings for the show have plummeted since Banks took over. Now, producers are scrambling to find someone else to take over the hosting duties for next season.

The Sun reports that because of the falling viewership, the show will only run once next year instead of twice. Tyra will meet with shoe executives and ABC to determine what will happen next. Some on the production staff are unsure if Banks will return.

Producers for DWTS are also looking for major stars to sign on and spark interest in the show. They’d like to pull in a major, Oscar, Grammy, or Emmy winning superstar. The idea is to make mainstream news headlines.

Insiders believe there is a disconnect between social media reaction and the actual size of their television audience. They believe the ratings aren’t the true sign of the show’s success. However, television networks care about ratings and demographics, and that’s where the show has been failing.

A majority of online fans have been critical of Tyra Banks since she took over as DWTS host. She’s been accused of embarrassing and bullying contestants on the show. Overall, the experiment just hasn’t been well-received.

Contestants on America’s Next Top Model, which Tyra Banks also hosts, have recently come out to complain about their experience on the show. They said they were paid a pittance for their work on the series. Tyra Banks has been reported to make $30 million a year from ANTM.
