Lil Uzi Vert and XXXTentacion came from the same error of SoundCloud rappers. Unfortunately, the two never collaborated while X was alive. He recently talked about how their paths nearly crossed, but things didn’t work out.

On Adin Ross‘ live stream, Uzi talked about the unheard rap that X performed for him over the phone while he was on tour with The Weeknd. Vert says he’d think about a posthumous collaboration with XXXTentacion. HipHopDX covered the stream.

“Yes, I really like him. He called me one time when he was incarcerated a long time ago. I was going on stage, I was on tour with The Weeknd and he actually rapped a song for me that he never laid and it was actually really good.

Yes, I’d love to do a song with him but I’m really weird on stuff like that. Don’t get me wrong, it took me really long to do that with another artist. I’m really weird because I understand that they’re not here living and what if that’s not the vision they really want?

Especially if they really f*cked with me. What if that’s all wrong, I’d be pissed off if like they did it all wrong and I’m not here. But you know, if it works out, it works out.”

Despite the hype over the rappers’ competing careers, Lil Uzi Vert has always maintained his respect for X. The two were never able to come together, as XXXTentacion was shot in June of 2018 during an armed robbery. His most recent material released since his death, Bad Vibes Forever, came out in 2019.
