Young Thug recently celebrated the release of his new album Punk with a bang. He’s also been faced with the headache of losing a bag worth over a million dollars. Recently, Thugger revealed that he collaborated with Mac Miller on the track Day Before on the day before Mac died.

The Pittsburgh rapper faced cyberbullying after his death in 2018. Miller died at the age of 26 after an accidental drug overdose on September 7, 2018. That means the fateful collaboration took place on September 6.

Speaking to The Breakfast Club, Thug expressed his disbelief at what happened to Mac. He also noted how eerie it was that the song had such an ironic title. The two never meant for the song to be anything other than a typical hip hop boast track.

“I was with Mac the day before he died. He was at my studio and we did the song on my album. This sh*t is so crazy but coincidental. He came to the studio and did the song with me and the next day he died. And the name of the song is ‘Day Before.’ But the song is about like women… It was like flamboyant.”

Day Before is the last track on Young Thug’s latest record. It was the first collaboration between the two rappers. Unfortunately, it would also prove to be the last.

Punk is on pace to move 95,000 album equivalent units in its first week. That number would fall short of his previous effort So Much Fun, which sold 131,000 in its first week. It was Young Thug’s first number one album in the US. You can catch Young Thug’s interview in full below.
