The Los Angeles Lakers have taken one of their final steps towards regaining their NBA title. LeBron James and the seventeen-time NBA champs have added another piece to the puzzle.

The Lakers put the finishing touches on their 2021 roster when they announced the signing of former Washington Wizards center Jay Huff. Huff will take up the final two-way roster spot for the Lakers.

Huff played college ball at the University of Virginia. The Wizards released the big man on October 13. Huff’s spot became open when the Lakers released Joel Ayayi. Ayayi was subsequently claimed by the Wizards, effectively making the roster moves a straight-up trade.

Jay Huff is a big, floor-spacing defenseman who was drafted out of UVA in the 2021 NBA draft. He’ll get a second chance to show his worth on an extremely talented Lakers team who enters the season as an early favorite to win it all again.

The Lakers recently finished up their preseason schedule. Nine-time all-star point guard Russell Westbrook was recently caught trash talking with a fan.

The 2021-22 regular season opens for the Lakers tomorrow night on TNT against the Golden State Warriors. Huff averaged 13 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game during his senior season at Virginia.
