Shannen Doherty made a name for herself as an actress thanks to her roles in Little House on the Prairie, Girls Just Want to Have Fun and more. Sadly, the Charmed star is fighting for her life, but she isn’t giving up.

The actress was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, which is a very serious condition. Despite that, she gave fans a hopeful update about her battle for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October as she stated that Doherty wants to ”keep fighting to stay alive.”

Shannen Doherty took to her Instagram and posted a couple of very real and truthful photos of her ongoing battle with stage IV breast cancer as she was determined to spread awareness of breast cancer.

For breast cancer awareness month, I’d like to share more of my own personal journey from my first diagnosis to my second. Is it all pretty? NO but it’s truthful and my hope in sharing is that we all become more educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like. I hope I encourage people to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut thru the fear and face whatever might be in front of you. In 2015 I got diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy and did chemo and radiation. I had many nose bleeds from the chemo. Not sure if any of you experienced this. I also was beyond tired. I cheered myself up by putting on funny pajamas that my friend Kristy gave me. Did they actually cheer me up? Yes!! Lol. I looked ridiculous and in that ridiculousness, I was able to laugh at myself. Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible. #breastcancerawareness

She was diagnosed with cancer back in 2015 but went into remission in 2017. However, Doherty revealed that her cancer had returned back in February of last year and is now fighting an uphill battle. We certainly hope Doherty will be able to beat cancer once and for all and live a normal life.
