R. Kelly is facing his second trial related to the alleged sexual abuse and crimes against minors. These rumors have been around for a very long time, but the Surviving R. Kelly documentary series brought new attention to the story. Now the famous hip-hop artist will see another day in court.

His Brooklyn trial is set to begin that also includes charges of Racketeering, Bribery, Kidnapping, Sexual exploitation of a child, Forced labor, and Mann Act violations. Prosecuting attorney, Cruz Melendez, said that this case is “about a predator” who used his fame to abuse young girls.

It was said that Kelly “used his fame, power, and a network of people” along with “lies, manipulation, threats, and physical abuse.” The #MeToo movement took place quite a while ago, but the public is still seeing the lasting impact of that movement.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all charges. In the meantime, he remains in incarceration. The 53-year-old rapper has been in prison since last year as he awaited four separate trials and state courts in three different states on multiple sex crimes charges.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
