Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA, and many regard him as the best. Scottie Pippen has great things to say about Durant, but he hasn’t topped LeBron James quite yet.

While speaking to GQ, Scottie Pippen put Kevin Durant over in a big way. He said that Durant can score better than LeBron and he’s always been able to pull that off. When it comes to surpassing King James, Durant hasn’t quite pulled that off.

“KD can score better than LeBron, probably always have been able to. But has he surpassed LeBron? Naw. He tried to beat the Milwaukee Bucks instead of utilizing his team. You see what I’m saying? LeBron James would’ve figured out how to beat them and he wouldn’t have been exhausted and he may not have taken the last shot. But LeBron ain’t KD, and KD ain’t LeBron. KD is a shooter, a scorer. But he doesn’t have what LeBron has.”

KD certainly heard those comments. He responded to a fan tweeting out about Pippen’s comments by saying: “Didn’t the great Scottie Pippen refuse to go in the game for the last second shot because he was in his feelings his coach drew up the play for a better shooter??”

Another fan commented on Pippen missing Game 7 because of a migraine. This was not lost on KD either as he responded, “This guy Scott also wanted to enjoy his summer so he chose to rehab during the season lol yo @ScottiePippen THEY FOLLOWED PHIL, NOT YOU!!!”

The battle is continually waged regarding who is the greatest. Magic Johnson himself said that LeBron James only has one season left as “the man” before it’s KD’s league. There seem to be people on both sides of that argument.

What’s your take on this situation? Who is the greatest NBA player going right now? Sound off in the comments!

Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
