Jay Leno is famous for being an enthusiast of automobiles, as his show Jay Leno’s Garage reveals. The former talk show host has taken a step into a new category, which is simply breaking records.

Leno recently broke the record of travelling a quarter mile in the shortest amount of time, using a Tesla Model S Plaid. His run with the car made the record by travelling a quarter mile in  9.247 seconds, as he revealed to a podcast. Now, we can witness Leno triumphantly breaking it as the footage just came out.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, revealed in an event to announce the deliveries of the new model that the car can actually travel the distance of a quarter mile in 9.23 seconds, which falls short by only 0.2 seconds of what Leno’s demonstration revealed.

The Model S Plaid reaches the speed of 0-60mph in a mere 1.99 seconds, and runs at the top speed of 200mph. The fact that the car is still an electrical vehicle only demonstrates the vision with which Musk is operating.
