Tragic news has emerged regarding the cause of former child star Evan Ellingson’s untimely death.

The coroner’s office at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has revealed that the 35-year-old actor, best known for his role in “My Sister’s Keeper,” passed away due to a fentanyl overdose, with the manner of death ruled as accidental.

Evan Ellingson was discovered lifeless in his bedroom in Fontana, Calif., on November 5, leaving his family and fans in shock. His father, Michael Ellingson, disclosed to TMZ that Evan had been residing in a sober home as he battled drug abuse issues.

Despite his struggles, Michael expressed surprise and sadness over his son’s sudden demise, stating that Evan had been doing well recently. However, law enforcement sources indicated that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.

Evan’s family issued a heartfelt statement on November 6, grieving the loss of their beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. They described Evan as a caring individual with a strong Christian faith, a warm and childlike spirit, and a smile that could brighten any room. They emphasized his dedication to helping others find hope through their shared struggles with addiction. Evan had managed to maintain sobriety for three years but sadly “recently relapsed” after being prescribed opioids following a dental procedure.

Evan Ellingson began his acting career at the tender age of 13 and left his mark on popular TV shows such as “CSI: Miami,” where he portrayed the recurring character Kyle Harmon. He also made appearances in “General Hospital,” “Titus,” “Mad TV,” “Bones,” “24,” and several movies, including “Letters from Iwo Jima,” “Rules of the Game,” and “Walk the Talk.” Despite the demands of his early career, Evan cherished his unique childhood experiences, stating that he had no regrets as he had discovered his passion for acting early on.

His acting credits ceased in 2010, and it appears he had not been involved in any Hollywood projects since then. Evan’s brother, Austin Ellingson, who was also an actor, tragically passed away from a drug overdose in 2008.

Evan Ellingson is survived by his daughter, Brooklynn, who was born in 2008. The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences and fond memories from fans who remember him from his days as a child actor, and many have noted the bittersweet reunion he must have with his late brother Austin in the afterlife.
