Kanye West has reached a settlement in a lawsuit brought by a former Yeezy employee, Taliah Leslie, who accused him of violating labor laws.

The legal battle, which had been ongoing for years, has now come to an end, according to legal documents obtained by The Blast.

Leslie had alleged that West and his fashion brand violated the California Labor Code by misclassifying employees as independent contractors, thus depriving them of wages and other benefits they should have received as employees. She claimed West failed to pay for mandatory trips to locations like Cody, Wyoming, and Paris, France, and didn’t reimburse her for expenses related to her duties, such as cell phone and internet usage during travel.

This legal resolution comes after a series of other issues involving West and ex-employees. West alleged that an ex-employee who had threatened to have him institutionalized was following him. Photos and videos showed West’s former trainer, Harley Pasternak, in the lobby of the hotel where West and his children were staying, prompting concerns about his motives.

In November 2016, West was hospitalized for temporary psychosis at Pasternak’s West Hollywood residence, which was attributed to sleep deprivation and extreme dehydration following intense Twitter activity, political rants, and canceled concerts. West later mentioned bipolar disorder as a possible diagnosis but later suggested a misdiagnosis during a conversation with Donald Trump in October 2018.

In November 2022, West leaked text messages wherein Pasternak reportedly threatened to have him institutionalized again after West’s anti-Semitic rants. West claimed he had been “mentally misdiagnosed” in 2016 and emphasized his commitment to standing for his truth.

While the lawsuit settlement has been reached, it remains to be seen how these other issues will be resolved or whether they will continue to affect West in the future.
